Full Synopsis
EXPLORE
Our complete curriculum, including detailed lesson plans and corresponding student materials, allows us and our students to explore the varied aspects of theater: Acting, Design, Directing, Writing, Music and Dance.
Each session launches with a video introducing the day's theme through backstage access and on-screen instruction. After a director-facilitated, full class activity, students work in groups to solve a creative challenge, then share their work, reflect as a group, and learn from one another.
Y&KS2 holistic arts education program fulfills many educational standards, including some Common Core State Standards and National Core Arts Standards.

Kids&Youth Acting Camps
YOUTH&KIDSCORE2 ARTS ACADEMY
Youth-KidScore2 is proud to present our Kids and Youth Acting Camp which is a theater, creative, and performing arts, and community-oriented program structured for literacy. This program is designed to encourage children, youth and young adult ages 5- 18 to read, think and write. Through our interactive arts programs the children-youth are motivated to use their imagination, in skits, plays, and improv. Youth-KidScore2 incorporates diverse programs by combining theater and performing arts workshops with the influence of teachers, professional entertainers, professional athlete, music teachers, artists, and professional dance instructors. Would you like to travel to outer space, perform in a circus, or command your own pirate ship? Well, you can go anywhere, do anything, and be anybody when you put on a play with us. The only limit is your imagination!
Kids/Youth acting camp for film
Introductory acting
This course emphasizes the basic elements of the craft of acting for film using fundamental acting technique and scene study as starting points. Students participate in in-class shoots aimed specifically at training the actor for the technical requirements of acting on a film set. Every student shares the same curriculum. Some additional time may be scheduled for productions as needed.
Classes encourage to break down physical and internal inhibitions, and help each student find the most effective personal sources for the creation of truthful characters. Students should be prepared to work in non-traditional acting classes emphasizing the construction of, and control of character given unique pressure of a film or television shoot. Video cameras are used during class time.
Students develop the technique and confidence they need to create believable performances for the camera they apply what they learn to a series of on camera exercises designed to develop their scene acting ability. Students participating in our acting studio perform in a film scene that is taped, edited and screen for a live audience.
Intermediate Acting Camp
Starting where they left off in the introductory acting for film program. Students are cast in and explore the process of performing in a more in-depth production. Students may shoot the final project on location or in a closed set at the film academy. While students are introduced to specific acting techniques and exercises as they apply to acting for the camera, classes primarily focus on rehearsal and preparation for the final project.
Note: production workshops during the 10 weeks. Short scenes will be shot during these classes as well. Naturally, there will be a final screening for cast, crew, family and invited guests.

Musical theatre camp
From the classics of the “Golden Age” like Oliver twist, sound of music and the Wizard of Oz to the animated shows and movies like Dr Suess, The Cat in the Hat to Charlie Brown Christmas, there is a long and varied history of musical theatre on stage and screen. YouthScore playhouse provides a unique environment where students in our camps can hone their craft and learn to read. And some of our workshops will be taught by real professional actors. In this part of our camp students develop the necessary skills needed for success in musical theatre, including dance, voice, acting and performance skill. This program is designed for each kid to be taught as a unique part of our ensemble with varied levels of singing and movement ability. Students will be encouraged to effective interpret scripts and songs, as well as present themselves professionally in performance situations either at auditions, or on stage or on film. Courses from the following list allow students to explore the integral skills required for success in the field, to understand professional ethics, and to prepare themselves for the demands of a career as an actor.
Class Description
Acting technique: students are introduced to the tool necessary for strong story-telling including given circumstances, objectives, obstacles, tactics and action through the use of theatre games, exercises and practical performance analysis. Our environment is structured for this exploration in a nurturing, safe environment with the goal to have fun while acting.
Theatre dance: working with dancers professional and non-professional, students are exposed to fundamental dance techniques. Our programs place a strong emphasis on core strengthening, flexibility and story through movement. Using material from musical theatre, students learn an ensemble piece musically and then proceed into a fully choreographed dance sequence for final presentation.
Voice studio lab: this course will give students an understanding of the voice and its physical components as applied to musical theatre. Student work on fundamentals of healthy singing: breathe support, articulation, relaxation techniques, alignment and proper construction/placement. Included in this course is a basic introduction to music theory and its application including: note values, scales intervals, harmony, key signatures, and sight reading.
Scene into song: students work on scenes with both music and text from a variety of musical theatre pieces. Scenes are generally taken from contemporary musical theatre, and may include selections from shows such as glee the musical and more.
Performance lab: students are immersed in the works of individual composers and lyricists. Class is a survey of the works and styles of major musical theatre artists including Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd weber, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Leonard Bernstein. This lab is designed to workshop musical scenes or group projects for performance at the end of the session. Work becomes more complex over the course of the session and requires that students take on both leading and ensemble roles in performance.
Grade 5 Drama is designed to educate students about theatre. Students will learn basic acting techniques and theatre terminology for their grade level. Drama is designed to teach students how to work together in groups, think critically, use their imagination, discover new ideas, and solve problems. Students will learn how to improve their focus, self-confidence, and social skills. Students will be expected to work to the best of their ability to achieve group and individual success.
