RECOGNITION

YouthScoreArts gave me a mind-set of oneness. And helped me to see beyond the ethnic diversity. 

From the meetings I attended at Cal Rec. I was able to meet young creative, and very talented artists. 

Whom I still have personal bond with this very day. Just being able to hangout and experience the group meetings, was enough to inspire me to volunteer my time to YouthScoreArts. I would personally like to thank them for what they've done for my community.

Being apart of YouthScore has helped me find my way. I was the student that was lost and didn’t know what I wanted to do after high school. I was 15 years old when I first joined YouthScore and I was introduced to animation and acting. Mrs.Dee is someone that always is there to talk and steer me in the right direction. If it wasn’t for YouthScore, I probably would still be undecided in college and lost. 

Youth score was like an umbrella to me being in a low-income neighborhood and I was able to you lose myself at various movie events, tapings and other outstanding functions they would hold for us kids, I was able to hone my DJ skills providing music and being able to tap in with people in the music and entertainment industry, Danita has made a lasting impact on my life for good she helped me become the man I am today and I thank her and Youth Score for being there for me and other kids in the neighborhood

Youth Score program is the bridge for the underrepresented community. It has impacted and serviced many at risk youth in the underserved communities providing a gateway to a better tomorrow. From sports, education to entertainment, and social services, youth score has provided a platform for program participants to stand upon. From providing exposure to those sectors to developing the leaders of tomorrow who's mission is to change the  Trajectory of the underserved communities, youth score is a much needed program for our youth.

I wanted to express my most profound appreciation for being given a chance by Mrs. Danita Strauss to join the Youth Score program in the late 90's when I was ten years old. The skills I learned taught me the importance of my attitude in school and how that affects my ability to be successful in life. Mrs. Strauss and her staff with Youth Score pushed me to do my best, stay committed to my goals, and provide me with one-on-one tutoring sessions to help me with my school work. These efforts helped me get into Newcomb Academy, a highly rated public school in Long Beach, CA, that I attended from sixth to eighth grade. Additionally, I had the opportunity to participate in talent shows. I attended numerous events and met a lot of famous entertainers. For example, during a talent show I participated in, I had the chance to meet Snoop Dog, which was a great experience I would never forget. Also, Youth Score took a group of kids and me to Warner Bros Studios, where we went behind the scenes and met celebrities such as Jamie Fox, Brandy Norwood, and many more! Since Youth Score, I have had the opportunity to play Division 1 football, earn my master's degree and have a great career. I have grown so much as a leader and role model to kids because of the incredible opportunities I was given through Youth Score. Mrs. Strauss, I am forever grateful for you and your program.

I have had the pleasure of many long lasting memories of youthscores since the late 90's Being involved in numerous events just to name a few  mentoring the youth,Talent Shows,Field trips basketball baseball games movies live tapings , open mic feeding and clothing the homeless and hungry, cookouts just for the youth, etc.... the list goes on!Of all my differences experiences seeing the Joy and Happiness on their faces and knowing the truly enjoyed their experiences. Youth Score has and still is a great Blessing to many.
